Name: Melissa Volker (for formal occasions and when I am in trouble with my Mom.) I have been called Missy since I can remember.
Age: Hahahaha. You’re kidding right? On a public platform? I am a smidge north of forty. I’ll just leave that there.

MV: I am originally from the Eastern Cape and I go back there every year to Kromme River Mouth at St Francis Bay. I’m a beauty & sports massage therapist by occupation, but I love to write, so when I am not working in my salon or mothering my children, (or SUPping) I blog at missmelissawrites.com about writing, surfing and travelling; and at sunrisebeautyblog.wordpress.com about health and skincare. I live in Kommetjie and I am a mum. I have insanely gorgeous and hysterical twins girls who share the love of the ocean like me. In fact Mia came 5th at her first South African Long Board Champs in Mossel Bay in April. Muizenberg aka Surfer’s Corner is probably the most famous and well know beginner surf spot in Cape Town. It is one of the few spots in the Cape Peninsula that has waves all year round and it’s gentle, rolling waves is suited to everyone especially long-boarders and stand up paddle boarders. Even onshore here is more or less ride-able. The added bonus is that its waters are approximately 6 °C warmer than those of spots on the Atlantic side, thus you don’t always need a wetsuit.
